Temperature Monitoring of Chocolate Manufacture
The Application
A producer of confectionary goods wanted to expand their business and a new production line was to be put into place to accommodate their growth in sales. With such a change to how the product was being processed the company required a far more intelligent form of technology to ensure that production ran smoothly and efficiently. The main challenge faced by the owner was keeping a constant monitor on the temperature of the chocolate. If the chocolate was not kept to the desired temperature at relevant stages of the process then the product could be ruined causing avoidable financial expenditure.
The Solution
T24 temperature acquisition modules (T24-TA) were attached to external platinum temperature sensors (pt100 type 385) and placed at selected points along the production line to monitor the temperature of the chocolate at its varying stages. The measurements were then fed through a Gateway Modbus (T24-GW1) so that the collected data could be transferred into a format that was readable by the companies PLC. With the information recorded the company were able to observe changes in the temperature, giving an early indication of any problems and avoiding any loss of spoiled product.
