Large LED Display of Weight of Small Aircraft
The Application:
A leading company in the field of aircraft weighing was looking for a cost effective way of displaying the weight of a small aircraft using a large LED display mounted in the hanger office (which was 100 metres from the aircraft).
A cost effective aerospace weight monitoring solution was needed. Historically this would have involved cables running from each of the three load cells supporting the aircraft, back to the hanger office. This was not only expensive, but involved running cables across the hanger floor.
The Solution:
The solution was achieved by connecting a wireless telemetry T24-ACMi-SA strain gauge acquisition module to each load cell. The T24-ACMi-SA can interface to a wide range of load sensors so the acquisition modules were readily compatible the three load cells supporting the aircraft.
The T24-ACMi-SA modules were permanently powered and each transmitted their weight readings at a rate of three per second. The T24-LD1 Wireless Telemetry Large LED Display mounted 100 metres away in the hanger office, monitored these transmissions and provided a summation of the weights on the 100mm 4 digit display.
Using T24-LOG100 software, a T24-BSUe Wireless Telemetry USB Base Station with Extended Range and a notebook PC the company were also able to log the weight on each point, a summation of the weight, and even correct for latitude adjustment.
